The University of Aruba is proud to host the inauguration and lecture of Space and Nature Aruba Foundation.
Lecture: Spectacular images of the cosmos have enabled humans to understand the Universe we live in. This talk will take us through the high points of astronomical imaging, from the invention of photography, the perfection of multi-color ground-based imaging with large telescopes, to the construction of the Hubble Space Telescope. I will conclude by showing glimpses of the future when three huge ground-based telescopes now under construction will use a new technique called adaptive optics to obtain images that are 10 times sharper than Hubble and see stars that are 100 times fainter.
Speaker: Dr. Sandra Moore Faber is University Professor Emerita at the University of California, Santa Cruz, and a staff member of the UCO/ Lick Observatory. She is an observational astronomer with research interests in cosmology and galaxy formation. Some of her major discoveries include the first structural scaling law for galaxies (called the Faber-Jackson law), large-scale flow perturbations in the expansion of the Universe caused by superclusters of galaxies, and black holes at the centers of galaxies.

Welcome back to the latest episode of This Week in Aruba, which covers the events from Friday, November 2nd to Thursday, November 8th also known as timeshare week 44. On this episode, we will bring you the latest events and happenings in Aruba.
The shoutout for this week goes to Xander Bogaerts who is part of the Boston Red Sox, the champions of World Series 2018. Probably the most famous baseball player in the island of Aruba. We don’t know him personally, but I know people who have met him and he’s by all accounts the nicest dude in the world. You might never hear this, but congratulations on your victory!

From the 1st to the 4th of November 2018, the one happy island of Aruba will become more than just a perfect tropical destination for vacationing, but it will also be the main host of beach parties, pools parties and the biggest concert of the year on the one happy island with international sensations J Balvin, Bad Bunny, Alex Sensation, Jeon and more!The Aruba Island Take Over festival has as goal to combine the best of the urban music scene with the electronic music scene. Thursday, November, 1st the island kicks off with a welcome party and followed by the main concert Friday night at The Harbor Arena Aruba with the main artists performing. On Saturday, Partai from Venezuela hosts a trendy Pool Party and in the evening a Beach Party by EF. On Sunday, the closing party takes place on one of Aruba’s beautiful beaches.This is something not to be missed.
