The stalks are white, with golden tips, and they are soft and filled with flavor: the white asparagus, the white gold. A delicacy in Holland and Belgium, the asparagus season is much anticipated. And of course the asparagus is flown in to Aruba for asparagus lovers. At Café the Plaza the asparagus treats are going to be available from May 18: a creamy asparagus soup and traditional Dutch asparagus with ham, parsley, a boiled egg and melted butter, served with mashed potatoes. Mouthwatering, a true Dutch treat!

Asparagus season lasts about two months in Holland. The first asparagus peek from the ground early in spring, around February or early March. They are traditionally harvested from the second Thursday in April until 24 June.

Let’s move on to the cruise ships schedule portion. It’s another light week this time around as the low season rolls along.
As far as news goes, I only have a couple of things. First off I want to give a shoutout to the crew behind Full Throttle Tours who have set up a over at the Costa Linda. Make sure to check them out! They’re a bunch of lovely people and Full Throttle Tours is an excellent excursion. They were guests at One Happy Podcasts episode 101 and 102. The other piece of new doesn’t really have much to do with the tourists in Aruba but it can affect Aruba’s tourism as it has something to do with the finances of the country.
